AUGUSTA, Ga. – Despite playing through the opening five holes of play for Sunday’s final round of the Valspar Augusta Invitational, rain eventually made its way into the picture, suspending play for the Ole Miss women’s golf team.

With the day being a washout, all scores were reverted to where things stood at the conclusion of Saturday’s second round, meaning the Rebels would finish tied for fourth with a score of 577 (+1) on the weekend.

“It’s unfortunate that our tournament was cut to 36 holes,” head coach Kory Henkes said. “That is back to back tournaments that have been cut due to weather. We saw some great golf throughout our lineup this week which was fun to see. We’re going to continue fine tuning our scoring clubs as we approach our last regular season tournament and post season play.”

Chiara Tamburlini was able to earn a third place finish on the weekend, shooting 5-under enroute to earning her second Top 5 finish of the season and seventh Top 5 finish of her career.Tamburlini ranked third amongst all golfers in total birdies on the weekend, sinking nine over the two rounds of action.

Sophomore Natacha Host Husted also earned a Top 20 finish for the Rebels, finishing tied for 14th at 1-over par. The Copenhagen, Denmark, native has now finished in the Top 20 in four of her six tournament appearances for the Rebels in 2022-23.

Rounding out the Rebel lineup were Nicole Gal, Elle Johnson and Andrea Lignell, with Gal and Johnson both finishing tied for 35th after golfing 148 (+4) on Saturday. Lignell ended her tournament with a score of 151 (+7), putting her in 49th.

Senior Ellen Hume, who competed as an individual, finished 9-over par and tied for 57th.

The Rebels will return to action March 24-26 for the team’s regular season finale at the Clemson Invitational. All three rounds are set to be played at Lake Keowee Golf Course.
