» Using a closing 300, Michigan posted a 907 team total for a ninth-place finish at the Louisiana Classics, played at the Oakbourne Country Club.

» For the second time this spring, Will Anderson paced the Wolverines, tying for 25th (225) — his sixth top-25 individual finish in eight stroke play events. Hunter Thomson finished a shot back at 226 and tied for 28th.

LAFAYETTE, La. — With top-30 finishes from junior Will Anderson and sophomore Hunter Thomson, the University of Michigan men’s golf team posted a 907 54-hole team total to finish ninth at the Louisiana Classics on Tuesday (March 14), played at the Oakbourne Country Club.

Opening play on Monday, U-M used a pair of 73s from Anderson and redshirt-junior Ben Hoagland to etch a 295 on the board and put the Wolverines among the top three after the first 18 holes. Heading straight into the second round, Anderson and Thomson led with rounds of 75 as the Wolverines followed with a 312 tally to close the day in ninth with a 607 team total.

In the final round, junior Jude Kim guided U-M to a closing 300 after firing his one-over 72, while sophomore Yuqi Liu closed with a 75. With its 907 tally, the Maize and Blue stayed in the ninth spot.

For the sixth time in nine events, Anderson and Thomson finished as the top two Wolverines. Anderson posted his sixth top-25 finish of the season, tying for 25th at 225 (73-75-77). Thomson was just a shot back with his 226 (75-75-76) as he tied for 28th. With his final round 72, Kim rounded out the top three Wolverines as he tied for 35th at 228 (77-79-72).

The Maize and Blue are away from competition for nearly a month as they prep for the end of the school year and the rest of U-M’s spring schedule. Michigan will next travel…
