GRANT APPRECIATING THE LEARNING PROCESS IN 2023

Linn Grant

After a sensational 2022 season, Linn Grant has had a varied start to life on Tour this year and is making sure to learn from every situation.

The 2022 Race to Costa del Sol champion started her year on the LET with a second-place finish at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco but then missed the cut at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International.

However, since that result Grant has had T38 and T14 finishes on the LPGA Tour in Thailand and Singapore.

The Swedish star, who also won the Rookie of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year titles in 2022, knows that she won’t be at the top of the leaderboard every week.

But the 23-year-old is ensuring that she learns from every experience regardless of what the result is.

“I have played in two LET and two LPGA Tour events,” said Grant, who is number 24 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

“It’s a learning process and you can’t be good every time and you have to realise that. You can’t win every week or make every cut. I’m trying to learn from it regardless of if I’m top two or missing the cut.

“Last year I just went out and had fun, I tried to get as much experience as possible. Even though I put some pressure on myself, it was easy-going.

“Taking a break and coming back puts that pressure up a little bit more, I’m trying to go out with the mindset again that this is my job and I don’t have to win every week. I just need to do my very best and see how that keeps me in.”

The Aramco Team Series – Singapore will see 78 professionals compete in a 54-hole Stroke Play Individual Competition and 36 Teams will compete in a 36-hole Team Competition.

Grant has a good record in the Individual event having finish third in London and in a tie for seventh place in Sotogrande.

While the four-time LET winner is also a Team captain this week and chose fellow Swede Elin Arvidsson with the duo being joined by American Kelly Whaley.

Team Grant will tee it up at 10.45am local time and the Swedish star is hoping for a good week ahead at Laguna National Golf Resort Club.

She added: “I like the course, it’s fun to play. The greens are tiny out there, it makes it exciting and difficult. It’s soft so you can really attack the pins and try to get close. I hope it suits me; we’ll see! I think my team is great. We’ll have a good time and make tonnes of birdies!”
