Virginia Men's Golf | Linger Longer Invitational Up Next for UVA

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 16 Virginia men’s golf team travels to Georgia this weekend when the Cavaliers play in the 18th annual Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee. The tournament runs March 19-21 with 18 holes contested each day. Teams will tee off starting at 8:30 a.m. from the first and 10th tees each day.

This year’s 16-team field includes (Golfstat ranking) Alabama (20), Arkansas (44), Augusta, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Clemson, Georgia (34), Georgia Tech (11), UNC Greensboro (37), Ken­nesaw State, Mercer, South Alabama, South Florida, Vanderbilt (1) and Wofford.

Virginia’s lineup includes the same five golfers that placed third at the Wake Forest Invitational two weeks ago and were runners-up at last week’s General Hackler Championship. The group includes Ben James, Bryan Lee, George Duangmanee, Chris Fosdick and Devel Patel. Pietro Bovari will compete as an individual.

James is coming off a co-medalist performance at the Hackler Championship. He shot 13-under 203 to share first place honors. It was his third first-place finish of the season. He currently leads UVA with a 69.00 scoring average.

Last season UVA placed ninth at the Linger Longer Invitational. Patel shot 6-under 66 during the final round to be UVA’s top finisher in 13th place at 4-under 212.
