
STATESBORO, Georgia – Wisconsin’s strong start at the 43rd annual Schenkel Invitational saw the Badgers tied for third place overall following the first day of competition.
Wisconsin is currently 2-under after shooting 286 as a team and tied with Kentucky after the first 18 holes at Forest Heights Country Club. Host Georgia Southern, currently ranked No. 19 by GolfStat, leads the 14-team field at 16-under 272, while No. 24 Mississippi State is currently in second place with 4-under 284. Five teams in the field are currently ranked among the top-50 by Golfstat (full team standings with rankings below).
Round two tees off Saturday morning with 18 holes.
Round 1 – Friday, March 17
Cameron Huss is currently tied for seventh overall with a 2-under 70 to pace the Badgers individually. Huss finished Friday with four birdies, including three on consecutive holes (3, 4 and 5) on the front nine.
Badgers Daniel Aas and Clayton Tribus both finished T-12th at 1-under 71 on the day. Aas scored a hole-in-one on par-three Hole 3 to aid his first round performance, while Tribus played strongly to par and collected two birdies.
Teammates Maxime Legros and Coalter Smith both finished T-34th at 2-over 74. Competing as an individual, Max Schwarz finished 5-over 77 to tie for 60th.
