Englemann Leads Three In Maui


MAUI, Hawaii – No. 1 Stanford women’s golf sent three individuals to the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at Royal Ka’anapali this week, while three others compete at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Junior Sadie Englemann finished fourth to lead the trio of Cardinal in Maui. 

For Englemann, the fourth-place finish marked her fourth Top 10 of the season and her second consecutive Top-4 finish. She finished tied for third at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational last time out. The Austin, Texas native started the event with a career-best 5-under 67 on Monday, and followed that up with a 1-under 71 and 2-under 70. Englemann played the Par 4s at 5-under this week, and also played the Par 5s at 5-under. She tallied 38 pars and 12 birdies to buoy her 8-under 208.

Senior Angelina Ye had a strong event to finish tied for 21st. Ye tallied 10 birdies and an eagle on the week, including five of those birdies and her eagle during Tuesday’s second round. Ye finished at 2-over on the week.

Freshman Kelly Xu had a strong Tuesday round, finishing with eight birdies en route to a career-best, 3-under 69. In total, she tallied 11 birdies on the week and tied for 34th.

The Cardinal resumes action on April 10-11 at the Silicon Valley Showcase at Green Hills Country Club.
