CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini men’s golf program and the Atkins Golf Club at the University of Illinois announced fan details for the upcoming Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate, set for April 22-23.

The Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate – a 54-hole stroke play event that will cap the 2023 regular season – will officially christen the championship-caliber Atkins Golf Club at the University of Illinois. The event not only marks the first collegiate event at the newly renovated facility, located just minutes from the team’s state-of-the-art practice facility, but also the Fighting Illini men’s golf program’s first event in the Urbana-Champaign community since the 2010-11 season.

The nationally ranked Fighting Illini headline a field that will feature eight other top programs, including five Big Ten foes – Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, and Northwestern – along with Ball State, Eastern Michigan and Loyola Marymount.

The event will serve as the Illini’s final tune-up before turning their attention to the 2023 Big Ten Championship in search of the team’s conference-record eighth consecutive Big Ten title, it’s 13th of 14 dating back to 2009, and the program’s 20th overall.

FREE ADMISSION AND PARKING

Admission and parking will be free of charge and open to the public for both competition days on Saturday, April 22 (Rounds 1 and 2) and Sunday, April 23 (Round 3). Primary event parking will be available at the Atkins Golf Club Clubhouse at 2560 S. Stone Creek Blvd. Additional on-street parking may also be available throughout the surrounding Stone Creek neighborhood along Stone Creek Blvd.

Saturday will feature 36 holes of continuous play with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT, while tee times for Sunday’s final round will begin at 8 a.m. CT. Pairings are still to be determined, and time are subject to change.

FOOD/BEVERAGE PROVIDED BY HOMEGROWN

Homegrown, Atkins Golf Club’s farm-to-table restaurant, will offer food and beverages on site throughout the event. No outside food or drink will be allowed. In addition to the main restaurant location at the clubhouse, a beverage hut will also be located on the course near the greens for Holes 2 and 16.
