SAN FRANCISCO – Go Nakatsukasa matched his best round of golf as a Ute by carding an even-par 70 for the University of Utah men’s golf team on Friday during the second round of The Goodwin, which was held on Friday at TPC Harding Park.
Nakatsukasa, who began his round on the back nine, played even golf all day, offsetting his few mistakes by picking up a team-high five birdies. He logged his first two on the 15th and 17th and added three more on the front nine during one five-hole stretch. The freshman from San Diego reached the clubhouse with a score that matched the 70 he registered at the John Burns Intercollegiate in February and moved him 20 spots up the leaderboard. Nakatsukasa is currently tied for 129th.
Brandon Robison owns Utah’s best 36-hole score at 2-over and he shook off a difficult first nine holes to post an excellent score during the second half of his round. At one point, Robison reeled off eight consecutive pars before putting up birdies on his last two holes and finishing 2-under on the front nine. Robison was 5-over for the day and is tied for 47th.
Javier Barcos leads the Utes with 26 pars through 36 holes and 14 of those came on Friday, when he was 2-over and played even golf on the front nine. For the tournament, Barcos is 4-over and sharing 65th. Braxton Watts is 9-over and tied for 121st, while Martín León owns a share of 129th.
