Women’s Golf Heads to Oklahoma


The Missouri women’s golf team is set for its final tournament of the regular season, competing at The Bruzzy, hosted by North Texas.

TOURNAMENT INFO

The tournament tees off on Saturday morning with 36 holes of action. The Bruzzy begins with an 8:30 shotgun start on both days with 18 holes on Sunday.

Joining the Tigers on the course are 14 other schools, including six schools in the top 50 of the latest rankings. No. 17 UCF, No. 32 Texas Tech, No. 35 TCU, No. 36 Houston, No. 39 Tulsa, No. 42 North Texas, Charlotte, Kansas State, Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Purdue, Western Kentucky and Wisconsin are all set to compete this weekend in Oklahoma.

The Bruzzy is set to take place at the Dornick Hills Golf and Country Club on a par-70 course that measures 5.976 yards.

TIGERS AT THE BRUZZY

Mizzou is competing at The Bruzzy for the fourth time, having also participated in 2018, 2019 and 2021. The Tigers have finished as high as sixth as team at the event.

Sophia Yoemans and Emily Staples competed at the event two years ago when the Tigers last appeared at The Bruzzy, collecting scores of 225 and 231, respectively.

2022-23 RECAP

Heading into the final tournament before postseason play, three Tigers are in contention for the team’s stroke average leader as Emily Staples (73.57), Kate Bibby (73.67) and Melanie Walker (73.80) all average less than 74 shots per round.

Not including the partial 2020 season, no Tiger has averaged less than 74 strokes per round since Jessica Yuen (73.64) and Amanda Kim (73.97) in 2019-20. Staples’ mark of 73.57 is the lowest by a MU golfer since Yuen posted an average of 72.67 in 2018-19.
