Men’s Golf Finishes 11th at The Goodwin


SAN FRANCISCO – Omar Morales shot 2-over (70-69-73) and tied for 32nd to lead the UCLA men’s golf team in its 11th-place finish at The Goodwin at TPC Harding Park on Saturday. The Bruins were a collective 13-over for the tournament with scores of 286-285-282.
 
There were 28 teams in the tournament.
 
Oklahoma won the team title by six strokes at 18-under and Sooner Ben Lorenz was the individual medalist at 9-under (68-66-67).
 
Morales shot his second sub-70 score of the season in round two with a 1-under 69 featuring five birdies.
 
Senior Mason Greene finished one stroke back of Morales at 3-over for the tournament and in a tie for 40th. Greene shot the lowest score of his collegiate career in round three with a 3-under 67 to skyrocket him 50 spots up the leaderboard. Greene had six birdies in his round as well as an eagle 3 on the par-5 9th.
 
Junior Ty Griggs finished the tournament strong with an even-par 70 in his third round. Griggs shot 1-under on the back nine with three birdies to finish in a tie for 67th.
 
The Bruins’ next competition is in two weeks at the El Macero Classic in Davis, Calif., beginning Friday, April 14.
