NAPA – The California women’s golf team began its final competition ahead of the Pac-12 Championships on Monday, finding itself in a tie for 12th place through 18 holes at the Silverado Showdown at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa.

Fresh off her third top-15 finish of the season at last weekend’s PING/ASU Invitational, junior Cristina Ochoa – the Bears’ low scorer for the season – currently leads the team at 3-over 75 after one round.

Junior Mika Jin is tied for 45th after carding a first round 5-over 77. Senior Tzu-Yi Chang is one stroke behind her in a tie for 56th, while graduate student Annika Borrelli comes in another stroke later in a tie for 62nd.

The Bears shot a 21-over 309 as a team, tying for 12th out of 17 teams. They are set to tee off round two beginning at 9:06 a.m. on Tuesday.
