Park Ties For 2nd, USC Takes 4th At Silverado Showdown

Freshman Catherine Park finished a career-best tied for second while senior Malia Nam tied for 15th to top the USC women’s golf team’s efforts in the final round of the Silverado Showdown on Wednesday (April 5) at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, Calif.

The Trojans, playing without All-American Amari Avery in their final regular-season event, finished fourth at a combined 22-over 886 (294-297-295), closing with a 7-over final round, tied for the third-best effort Wednesday among the 17-team field. Northwestern won the event at 9-over.

Park topped her previous season-best of a tie for sixth with a 2-under 214 (70-71-73), 3 shots back of first. The freshman now has a pair of top 6 efforts this year and five finishes inside the top 20.

Nam, in her first competition in a month, tied for 15th at 7-over 223 (74-77-72), posting a par today, the Trojans’ best in the final round. She had one stretch today, between 9 and 1, where she was 5-under.

Junior Brianna Navarrosa tied for 31st at 11-over 227 (76-77-74) while sophomore Xin (Cindy) Kou (75-77-76) and junior Christine Wang (75-72-81) tied for 35th at 12-over 228.

USC will play in the Pac-12 Championships, April 17-19, at the Papago G.C. in Phoenix, Ariz.
