36-Hole Leaders - Stanford University Athletics

MILLBRAE, Calif. – No. 1 Stanford women’s golf, behind co-leader Sadie Englemann, leads the Silicon Valley Showcase following 36 holes Monday at Green Hills Country Club. The Cardinal leads No. 25 Pepperdine by just one stroke with 18 holes remaining Tuesday. But, it’s a two-horse race at the top, as Pepperdine owns a 30-shot advantage over third-place Santa Clara.

Scoring sky-rocketed in round two, as the field scoring average went from 75.70 in round one to 78.00 in round two. Englemann’s 1-under 70 was the only round in the entire field under par. As she sits in the Top 5 in scoring for Par 3s, Par 4s and Par 5s, she is tied with Pepperdine’s Kaleiya Romero for first.

Freshman Kelly Xu, behind her first career ace on the Par-3 15th in round one, sits in third just one shot off the lead. She leads the field in Par 3 (-3) and Par 5 (-3) scoring.

Fresh off winning the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Rose Zhang is tied for fifth at 2-over. Monday’s second round was just Zhang’s second all season with a score above par (20 rounds).

As a team, Stanford led the field in Par 3 scoring (even) and was nine strokes better than Pepperdine in that category, while besting the Waves by eight strokes on the Par 5s. However, Pepperdine closed the gap on the Par 4s and was 16 shots better than Stanford on Monday.

Tuesday’s final round will feature an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
