Silicon Valley Showcase Co-Champs - Stanford University Athletics

MILLBRAE, Calif. – Led by Kelly Xu and Sadie Englemann, No. 1 Stanford women’s golf earned co-champion honors at the Silicon Valley Showcase on Tuesday. The rolling hills of Green HIlls Country Club, in combination with the strong winds, made course conditions challenging. The Cardinal finished with a 17-over 869 for the tournament, sharing top honors with Pepperdine.

No player in the entire field finished under par for the tournament, with Xu and Englemann tying for second at 2-over. For the freshman Xu, it marked her best career finish and first time finishing better than a tie for 34th. For Englemann, the runner-up finish continues a strong stretch of play. She now has three-straight Top-4 finishes, five Top-8 finishes this season and seven finishes inside the Top 13.

Rose Zhang, fresh off winning the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, finished fifth. It marked her 16th Top-10 finish in 17 career events. Senior Angelina Ye finished 13th, her new season-best finish and her third-straight Top 30.

As an individual, Caroline Sturdza (T18th) posted her first Top 20 of the season and Megha Ganne registered her sixth Top-20 finish of her freshman campaign.

Next up for Stanford is the Pac-12 Championships, April 17-19, at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz.
