Charlie Crockett Named SEC Golfer of the Week

After a record performance at the Tiger Collegiate Invitational, Charlie Crockett of the Missouri men’s golf team was named SEC Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.

In a field that included seven nationally-ranked golfers, Crockett placed second overall with an 18-under 198 during the three-round tournament. His 198 tally is the second-best score by an MU player – trailing only a 197 by current PGA pro Hayden Buckley in 2017. Crockett, who beat his previous-best 54-hole total by eight strokes, collected two eagles, 18 birdies and just four bogeys over the course of the tournament to lead the Tigers. Overall, he carded a 64-69-65 with his opening-round 64 marking his best single round at Mizzou.

Crockett led the Tigers to a second-place finish at their home tournament – one spot behind No. 5 Illinois and one spot ahead of No. 25 Kansas State. Mizzou carded a 40-under 824 score over the three rounds – the second-best score in school history.

Crockett, who shared the weekly honor with Texas A&M’s Sam Bennett for his performance at The Masters, is the first Tiger to earn SEC Player of the Week accolades since Jack Parker last season.

Crockett and the Tigers return to action on Friday with the opening round of the Boilermaker Invitational.
