Vanderbilt Women's Golf | Dores Take Early Lead at SEC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Vanderbilt women’s golf team got off to a fast start at the SEC Championships on Wednesday, taking the lead after 18 holes at the Legacy Course at Greystone Golf Club. With an even par total score, the Commodores sit two strokes ahead of Florida heading into the second round of stroke play.

“Today was a pretty good day,” said head coach Greg Allen. “I’m really proud of how the girls stay committed to the game plan we came up with after the practice round yesterday.”

Celina Sattelkau stepped up once again as Vanderbilt’s leader, finishing 4-under par on the day to go atop the individual leaderboard. Sattelkau carded five birdies in her round after bogeying the par 3 second hole for a 68 on the day. Tillie Claggett’s 2-under par performance has her tied for fifth place.

“It was great to see Celina and Tillie play so well. They really carried us,” added Allen. “I honestly think Lynn, Ding, and Tess played much better than their scores showed.”

Lynn Lim, Virginie Ding, and Tess Davenport all notched 3-over par rounds for the Commodores and are tied for 36th place heading into the second round.

In discussing Thursday’s second round, Allen said, “Tomorrow is a real important day for us as we will have an opportunity to create some separation. We’ve talked about being mentally prepared for the possibility of playing in tough conditions as there’s a chance for poor weather.”

Weather forecasts are predicting there will likely be precipitation tomorrow, but the rain will be light yet lengthy. The high is expected to be 68 degrees with constant overcast skies.

Vanderbilt will tee off with Florida and Mississippi State at 8 a.m. CT tin an attempt to beat the weather. Live scoring can be found HERE.
