MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women’s golf is closing out the regular season with the Lady Buckeye Invitational, hosted by Ohio State. The 54-hole tournament will take place from Saturday, April 15 to Sunday, April 16 at the Ohio State University Golf Club on the Scarlet Course.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:
1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin women’s golf last teed off at The Bruzzy on April 1-2, finishing 56-over for a total 896 (300-302-294) after 54 holes at the Dornick Hills Golf and Country Club. Emily Lauterbach led Wisconsin as the Badgers top-finisher, shooting a 72-75-73=220 to finish 10-over and tie for 24th place. This marked Lauterbach’s fourth top-25 finish of the season, including a top-3 finish at the Marilynn Smith Invitational back in October.
2. The Course: The invitational is set at the Ohio State University Golf Club and will be played on the Scarlet Course. Renovated by Jack Nicklaus in 2006, the OSU Scarlet Course will be played as a 6,319-yard par 72. The course features strong changes in elevation and challenging water hazards, all set among a slightly-rolling terrain. The Scarlet Course is known across the country, as it is regarded as one of the top university courses.
3. The Tournament: The Lady Buckeye Invitational will be played on Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16, with 36 holes being played on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. Both days are set to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
4. The Field: Teams competing in the tournament are Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin. In the lineup for the Badgers are Emily Lauterbach, Vanessa Ho, Chloe Chan, Carly Carter and Nicole Ciskowski. Alexia Siehl will be representing Wisconsin as an individual.
