BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Steady rains in the morning and high winds throughout the day became the story of Thursday’s second round action at the 2023 Southeastern Conference Women’s Golf Championships. The Crimson Tide collected a team score of 21-over 309 on the day to fall to 10th place and will enter the final round of stroke play with a 36-hole score of 26-over 602 (295-309).
Alabama was not the only team to struggle with the weather conditions as all 14 teams recorded teams above par team totals on the day including 12 teams scoring 13-over or higher. Only two teams, clubhouse leaders No. 3 LSU (+6) and No. 7 Auburn (+7), finished in single digits over par on the day.
Three UA golfers are among the top-25 individuals to lead the Crimson Tide after two rounds of action. Taylor Kehoe continues to set the pace as she is in 14th place at 3-over par 147 (70-77), followed by Sarah Edwards, who is in a tie for 17th with a 150 (75-75), and Benedetta Moresco, who is a stroke back and tied for 25th at 151 (74-77).
The stroke play portion of the tournament will conclude Friday on the par 72, 6,301-yard Greystone Golf and Country Club Legacy Course. The top eight teams will advance to the match-play quarterfinals Saturday morning, while four teams will move on to the match-play semifinals Saturday afternoon. The final two teams will go head-to-head in the match-play finals on Sunday.
