Bears Move Up One Spot On Day Two Of El Macero Classic

EL MACERO – The California men’s golf team moved up one spot at the El Macero Classic on Saturday, with Nathan Wang and Aaron Du both carding a 2-under par 70 on day two. The Golden Bears shot an even-par 288 as a team.

Wang (72-70 – 142) was the Bears’ low scorer for the second straight day, moving up in the individual standings from 22nd into an eight-way tie for 16th. Du (74-70 – 144) and Daniel Heo (76-72 – 148) both improved four strokes from their first round totals. Du finds himself in a tie for 30th through 36 holes, while Heo moved up 13 spots to 57th.

The Bears (295-288 – 583) had the 10th-best second round score out of the 20 teams in action and will head into day three in a tie for 15th place at 7-over par 583.

San Francisco and Loyola Marymount currently lead the field with identical scores of 9-under 567.

Cal concludes its final regular season competition with round three at El Macero Country Club on Sunday with third-round tee times on hole 10 between 9:00-9:44 a.m. PT alongside Cal Poly, Denver and Sacramento State. Live scoring can be followed on Golfstat.com.
