COLUMBUS, OH – The No. 33-ranked Maryland women’s golf team posted three over par as a team at the Lady Buckeye Invitational this weekend, finishing in fourth place out of 13 teams competing. No. 35-ranked junior Patricie Mackova led the charge, finishing in a two-way tie for first after posting a score of 208 (66-69-73), eight strokes under par. This marks her seventh top-10 finish of the 2022-23 season.
Mackova shares co-medalist honors with Monet Chun of Michigan. Chun won the event overall based on having the lower final round of the day out of the two players.
The Team
Senior Angela Garvin posted 220 (70-73-77), which was four over par to finish in a tie for 20th.
Freshman Nicha Kanpai ranked 69th nationally, also posted a score of 220 (77-73-70), to tie Garvin.
Sophomore Panassaya Somchit finished in a four-way tie for 33rd, posting a score of 223 (77-70-76) (+7).
Senior Maria Vittoria Corbi finished in a three-way tie for 51st, posting a score of 228 (74-73-81) (+12).
Junior Karla Elena Vázquez Setzer finished in a two-way tie for 73rd, posting a 235 (80-79-76) (+19).
Over the two-day tournament (April 15-16), Maryland played the layout designed by the late Dr. Alister MacKenzie and restored by 18-major champion and Ohio State alum Jack Nicklaus. The field played from 6,319 yards.
