Koras with Top-10 Individual Performance, Maryland Concludes Play at the Mountaineer Invitational


BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – Senior Will Koras led the Terps at the 8th annual Mountaineer  Invitational Tuesday at the Pete Dye Golf Club. Koras, who played as an individual in the event, co-led the field of individual players to place in a four-way tie for sixth. He posted a score of 221 (75-76-70), which was five over par. 
 
“I fought really hard this week and played with great patience and discipline,” Koras said on his performance this week. “I was really proud of how I overcame adversity and played one shot at a time to the best of my ability.

Maryland finished in a two-way tie for 11th of 13 teams in their ninth tournament of the 2022-23 season.

The Collective

-Senior Dillon Brown finished in a three-way tie for 36th, posting 230 (80-76-73) (+14)

-Freshman Ronnie Kim finished in a two-way tie for 41st, posting 233 (84-77-72) (+17)

-Senior Will Celiberti finished in a five-way 57th, posting 238 (82-78-78) (+22) 

-Freshman Constantin Mons finished in a five-way tie for 57th, posting 238 (81-77-80) (+22), alongside Celiberti

-Sophomore Florian Huerlimann finished in a four-way for 62nd, posting 239 (81-80-78) (+23)

The Phillips’ Perspective…

“I’m excited for Will that he was able to return from injury this week with a strong performance,” said head coach John Phillips. “This was our final tune-up before the Big Ten Championship, and we are looking forward to the challenge at Galloway National late next week.”

Over the two-day, 54-hole tournament (Apr. 17-18), the Terrapins played the par-72 – 7,308-yard Pete Dye Golf Club designed by the late Pete Dye.

The Terps will return to the fairways on April 28-30 at the Big Ten Championship in Galloway, N.J., at Gallaway National Golf Club hosted by the Big Ten Conference.
