Wildcats Conclude Pac-12 Championships in Fourth Place

PHOENIX, Ariz. – A windy day at Papago Golf Club challenged the field on the final day of the 2023 Pac-12 Championships as No. 22 Arizona Women’s Golf ended their week with a fourth-pace showing at 1-over par. The Arizona trio of Carolina Melgrati, Lilas Pinthier and Julia Misemer all finished in a tie for 11th for the championships at 1-under to lead the Cats.

“Today was not our day, but it doesn’t discount the great week of golf we played,” said head coach Laura Ianello. “You want to be playing your best golf at this time of the year, and I believe we were at our best this week. I am incredibly proud of all our young ladies for taking on the challenge of Pac-12’s head on. We will take so much away from this week moving forward that will make us a better team.”

Pinthier and Misemer carded Arizona’s best rounds on Wednesday at 1-over as Misemer’s 11th place finish was the best of her freshman season in a 54-hole event. The top-12 finishes for Pinthier and Melgrati also tied their season-best marks for a three-day event.

The Wildcats finished the championships in third in both par-3 scoring and par-5 scoring, which included Gile Bite Starkute’s chip-in eagle this morning on the opening hole. Arizona also extended its Pac-12 championships streak by finishing in the top five of the event for a 19th consecutive season.

With NCAA postseason competition on the horizon, the Cats will tune in to the NCAA Tournament Selection Show at 10 a.m. (MST) on Wednesday, April 26 on the Golf Channel.
