Gamecocks Through 36 Holes at SEC Championship – University of South Carolina Athletics

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – South Carolina shot 298 (+18) in round two of the stroke play portion of the SEC Championship. The Gamecocks are 14th at 27-over for the tournament at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course.

Sophomore Nathan Franks paced Carolina with a round two 69 (-1). He led the team with four birdies on the day. The Roebuck, S.C., native is T-27th at even par for the tournament. After a bogey-birdie-bogey-birdie start, Franks settled in with two birdies and just one bogey over his final 14 holes. His 1-under round came without a birdie on either of the two par-5s at Seaside.

Fifth-year senior Evans Lewis shot 75 (+5). Junior Rafe Reynolds carded a 76 (+6) and freshman Zach Adams shot 78 (+8) to round out the final counting scores. Transfer Lansdon Robbins shot 79 (+9).

No. 15 Texas A&M and No. 17 Alabama are tied atop the leaderboard at 12-under as a team.

The Gamecocks will be paired again with Kentucky for the third and final round of stroke play on Friday. Robbins will be the first player off at 9:10 a.m. (ET) from hole 10. Tennessee’s Caleb Suratt remains in the lead individually at 8-under after shooting 68 (-2) this afternoon.
