Women's Golf Concludes Play at the B1G Championships


PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State women’s golf team concluded play at the B1G Championships with a final round 27-over, 311, on Sunday at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Nittany Lions finished the week in a tie for 12th in the 14-team field at 58-over.

Led by a bogey-free, 9-under, 62, from Crystal Wang, Illinois secured the 41st Big Ten women’s golf championship with a three-stroke victory over Northwestern. The Illini finished the week 13-over while the Wildcats concluded three rounds at 16-over. Ohio State (19-over), Maryland (31-over) and Wisconsin (38-over) rounded out the top-five.

Penn State started the morning with the first six tee times and enjoyed success over the opening nine holes making the turn just 3-over on the day paced by a 2-under, 34, from senior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) and even-par front sides from senior Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) and sophomore Drew Nienhaus (St. Louis, Mo.). Willis and Nienhaus paced the Nittany Lions for the day with matching rounds of 6-over, 77, to finish the week tied for 50th and tied for 52nd, respectively, at 18-over and 19-over.

Senior Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas) carded a final round 7-over, 78, and finished the week 14-over to tie for 30th in the 83-player field to lead Penn State.

Dellavallade and senior Taylor Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) each posted 8-over, 79, on Sunday while sophomore Michelle Cox (Allentown, Pa.) rounded out the day with an 86.
