DURHAM – Duke head coach Dan Brooks and the Blue Devil women’s golf program awaits the NCAA Regional Selection Show, which will take place Wednesday, April 26 at 1:00 p.m., live on Golf Channel and online at www.GolfChannel.com.
The NCAA regionals will feature six different regional sites with 12 teams (72 total) and six individuals (36 total). The top five teams and top two individuals (not on an advancing team) will advance from each regional site to the championships, which will be held for the third straight year at Grayhawk Golf Club (Raptor Course) in Scottsdale, Ariz., from May 19-24.
The Blue Devils will receive their 30th consecutive bid to play in NCAA Regional action Wednesday and will travel to either University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash., Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C., TPC San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas or The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Ind.
Duke will enter regional action coming off a solid showing at the ACC Championship in Greensboro, N.C. The Blue Devils turned in a second-place ledger in stroke play, before falling to third-seeded Clemson in match play, 3-1-1. Duke was led by Phoebe Brinker in stroke play as she turned in an impressive 12-under-par score to finish second overall.
Duke has collected 10 NCAA Regional Team Championships over the last 27 years – 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2013, 2015 and 2018. The 10 regional titles rank second nationally behind Southern California (14).
Brooks has guided the Blue Devils to an NCAA Division I record 141 career wins and 21 of Duke’s 22 ACC titles. In his 39 seasons at Duke, Brooks has led the Blue Devils to seven NCAA Championships (1999, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2014 and 2019) and has taken his squad to the NCAA Regionals every year since 1993.
This year’s women’s golf championships will be broadcast for the eighth consecutive year by Golf Channel with more than 100 news and tournament hours planned again for the men’s and women’s golf championships.
