Lady Vols Selected to Westfield Regional

Tennessee women’s golf earned its bid to the Westfield NCAA Regional as the No. 7 seed, as the field was announced Wednesday on the Golf Channel during the NCAA DI Women’s Golf Regional Selection Show.

The regional is scheduled to run from May 8-10 at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Indiana. The top five teams and top individual (not on an advancing team) from each regional advances to the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, from May 19-24.

Located north of Indianapolis and hosted by the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the Westfield Regional field consists of twelve teams, five of which are ranked inside Golfstat‘s top 25.

TENNESSEE’S HISTORY AT NCAA REGIONALS
The Lady Vols have been selected to their 29th NCAA Regional in program history, and this marks the first time under second-year head coach Diana Cantu.

Tennessee was selected for the Louisville Regional in 2021, where LVFL Mikayla Bardwell notched an impressive 3-under (213) to tie for second place, advancing to the NCAA Championship as an individual. The team finished the regional in 10th place at +18.

Last season, Bardwell was selected as an individual participant in the Franklin Regional, recording a 54-hole score of 222 (+6) to tie for 33rd place.

SEASON RECAP
The Lady Vols posted nine rounds of par or better and eight top-10 finishes in the regular season. Tennessee recorded its lowest round of 2022-23 in the third outing of the ICON Invitational in February, shooting -8 (280). Junior Bailey Davis carded a record-breaking 63 in the second round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in September, tying the program record for lowest individual round. Davis tied for second place at -10, the third-lowest 54-hole score in Lady Vol history, earning her SEC Golfer of the Week honors. In March, freshman Angela Arora captured the individual title at the Clover Cup, recording three rounds in the 60s to shoot -11, the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history, earning her SEC Golfer of the Week accolades. Manassanan Chotikabhukkana leads Tennessee with a 73.10 stroke average and 14 rounds of par or better heading into NCAA Regionals.
