GALLOWAY, New Jersey — Paced by an opening 77 from sophomore Hunter Thomson, the University of Michigan men’s golf team posted a 326 team tally and is 13th after day one of the 2023 Big Ten Championships being played at the Galloway National Golf Club.

Battling rain, chilly and windy conditions throughout the opening 18 holes, the 70-golfer field closed the first round with a 78.49 average on the challenging and prestigious Galloway National. In their second career Big Ten Championships, junior Jude Kim opened with an 80 (t-47th), while redshirt-junior Jack O’Donnell carded an 83 (t-56th).
