STANFORD, Calif. – The Washington State men’s golf team has two golfers sitting inside the top five on the player leaderboard through three rounds of play at the 2023 Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championship, as senior Pono Yanagi heads into Championship in fourth place while junior Jaden Cantafio is tied for fifth.

Both Yanagi and Cantafio continued their spectacular play at the Stanford Golf Course in Saturday’s third round, as both WSU golfers finished the day at 2-under 68. Yanagi was able to maintain his fourth place standing on the player leaderboard after Saturday’s performance, as the Hilo, Hawai’i native has carded 8-under 202 through 54 holes of play at the 2023 Pac-12 Championship. Meanwhile, Cantafio continued his climb up the player leaderboard on Saturday, as the junior moved up two spots in the third round to finish the day in a tie for fifth place. The Tustin, California native holds a 54-hole score of 7-under 203 going into Sunday’s fourth round.

As a team, Washington State carded 1-under 349 in the third round of the 2023 Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championship. The Cougars’ performance Saturday matches WSU’s second-round score at the tournament, which is tied for the fourth-best single-round team score at the Pac-12 Championship in program history. Washington State heads into the final round of the Conference Championship in sixth place on the team leaderboard with a three-round score of 8-under 1042.

Freshman Sam Renner heads into Sunday’s finale in a tie for 13th on the player leaderboard with a three-day score of 4-under 206. Renner opened the 2023 Pac-12 Championship by firing the best round at the Conference championships in program history, as he carded a 63 (-7). Junior Preston Bebich had his best round to date at the 2023 Pac-12 Championship in Saturday’s third round. The Gig Harbor, Washington native ended the day at even par 70.

No. 37-ranked Arizona and Colorado are tied for first on the team leaderboard heading into the final day of the 2023 Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championship. The Wildcats and Buffaloes each sit at 17-under 1033 and hold a two-stroke lead over No. 4 Arizona State and No. 9 Stanford going into Sunday’s finale. Stanford’s Michael Thorbjornsen sits atop the player leaderboard through 54 holes of play at the Conference Championship, as he holds a three-day score of 13-under 197. A total of seven golfers are…
