Men’s Golf Secures 17th Straight NCAA Regional

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The seventh-ranked Florida State Men’s Golf team has been selected to its 17th consecutive NCAA Regional, earning the No. 2 seed at the Morgan Hill Regional on May 15-17 at The Institute Golf Club in Morgan Hill, Calif., near San Jose.

Florida State partakes in another very competitive regional, which includes No. 1 seed Pepperdine, Mississippi State (No. 3), Arizona (4), Louisville (5), Baylor (6), Missouri (7), BYU (8), NC State (9), California (10), Charlotte (11), Grand Canyon (12) and Northern Colorado (13).

The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals. Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 15-17. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams.

The Seminoles have enjoyed another strong season in 2022-23, nabbing team victories at the Seminole Intercollegiate and the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial. Three Seminoles have earned individual wins as well in Frederik Kjettrup (Watersound Invitational), Gray Albright (Seminole Intercollegiate) and Cole Anderson (Lewis Chitengwa Memorial).

At the Maui Jim Intercollegiate to begin the fall season, FSU carded the lowest round in school history (261). In its last regular-season tournament at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial, FSU tied for the lowest team score vs. par, shooting 41-under. The Seminoles also won the Seminole Intercollegiate by an astounding 38 strokes.

Florida State earned the No. 2 seed at the recent ACC Men’s Golf Championship, highlighting what has been a tremendous season so far in one of the nation’s toughest golf conferences.

If the Seminoles are able to advance to the NCAA Finals held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., it will be held May 26-31. FSU has reached the Top 30 of the NCAA Championship in each of the previous two seasons, reaching the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2021.
