RALEIGH, N.C. – Sun Devil Women’s Golf replicated their successful start to the Raleigh Regional, moving up to second place on day two at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Arizona State (E/288) matched host NC State for the second-lowest round of the day, moving up one spot on the team leaderboard. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye‘s team now sits in second place following two of the three rounds at the Raleigh Regional, needing to secure a Top-5 finish in order to advance to the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale.
The Sun Devils are in a great position to advance thanks to the efforts of Grace Summerhays and Ashley Menne, who both sit in the Top-10 following 36 holes of play. Summerhays shot a 69 (-3) to slide into a tie for fourth, while Menne’s second-consecutive 71 (-1) has her tied for seventh. The contributions of freshman Paula Schulz-Hanssen and Beth Coulter have been essential, as they each remain in the top half of the 60-golfer field.
“The team is feeling great, we are just sticking to what we have been doing the last couple days,” sophomore Grace Summerhays remarked. “We are excited for tomorrow and look forward to playing for a spot at Grayhawk!”
Summerhays and the rest of the Sun Devils will begin their final round of the Raleigh Regional on hole one at 6:06 AM MST tomorrow, looking to clinch their berth in the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship. Live scoring will be provided by Golfstat at the following link.
