PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State fifth-year senior Darcy Habgood fired 3-under 69 in the final round of the 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional to post with a three-day score of 212 (-4) and finish her last tournament as a Coug in a tie for 21st.
The fifth-year senior from Nambucca Heads, Australia got the third round started on the 10th tee and collected three birdies over the course of her first nine holes of play. Habgood went into the 18-1 turn at 3-under, then went on to shoot even par over her final nine holes of the day to post her best round score of the tournament at 3-under 69.
“I’m very happy with how I played at the NCAA Regional,” said Habgood. “It was awesome to be out here at Palouse Ridge with some of the best amateur golfers around. It was a bit of a disappointing finish, I played better than my score, but I’m really happy to finish my career here in Pullman.”
Habgood’s performance in Wednesday’s third round helped the fifth-year senior move up three spots on the player leaderboard on the tournament’s final day, as she concludes the 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional in a tie for 21st. The fifth-year senior, who was utilizing her NCAA Eligibility Relief season this year, concluded the tournament with a season-best 54-hole score of 4-under 212 after posting round scores of 70-73-69.
“We’re incredibly proud of Darcy to come out here on her home course and post two rounds under par and posting a great finishing score here on the last day,” said WSU Women’s Golf Head Coach Sofie Aagaard. “She played great throughout. She battled some weather yesterday, actually had a delay on the first day, but she played really stellar all week.”
No. 1-ranked Stanford captured the team title at the 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional after carding a remarkable 50-under 814 over three rounds of play at Palouse Ridge. The Cardinal will now advance to the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship, which will take place May 19-24 in Scottsdale, Arizona at Grayhawk Golf Club. Joining Stanford in Scottsdale will be Clemson, Southern California, Baylor, and Texas Tech.
Stanford’s Rose Zhang will have a chance to defend her 2022 NCAA Individual Women’s Golf Championship after winning the 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional with a score of 19-under 197.
