Manon De Roey is back playing on the LET in her home country and hoping to use what she’s learned on the LPGA Tour over the past few months.
The Belgian returns to Naxhelet Golf Club, which is hosting the Belgian Ladies Open for the second consecutive year.
And the Antwerp native can’t wait for the week to get underway and have some friends and family watching her this week.
“I’m super excited to be at home again,” said De Roey. “I have been outside the country for a while, so it’s good to come home and see some people watch me.
“It’s always nice to have people come out and support me. It’s sunny! I’m very excited for this because last year it wasn’t this sunny, so I’m looking forward to this week.
“I learned a lot from playing last year. The course was in really good condition, and I know they’ve worked very hard this year to get it in even better shape than last year.”
De Roey, who won her maiden LET title at the 2022 Aramco Team Series – Bangkok, had an excellent start to the LET season with three top-10 finishes.
But this year has been different for the Belgian as she is balancing playing on both sides of the Atlantic.
The 31-year-old was exempt into LPGA Q-Series last December thanks to her fourth-place finish on the 2022 Race to Costa del Sol and she succeeded in securing status after ending the eight-round tournament in a tie for 21st place.
Even though her latest run of events on the LPGA hasn’t gone to plan, De Roey hopes to carry forward the lessons she has learned and use them this week in Belgium.
She explained: “I started very strong, my first few tournaments on the LET this year were all top 10s. I’m trying to get back into that form. I went to the United States on the LPGA in between and it wasn’t that good of a run for me, but it was a new experience.
“I learned so much there and I’m going to take what I learned there into this week and hope for a good week. Last week in Florida, it was so great to see everyone in the players’ lounge and give hugs.”
De Roey will tee it up in the first round at 8.55 am local time from the 10th tee alongside Belgian amateur Savannah De Bock and Dutch star Anne Van Dam.
In the 2022 edition of the event, the LET winner had an excellent final round to climb into the top 10 of the leaderboard and she is hoping to replicate that again this year.
