Good Luck And Thanks To Coach Emerson Newsome

Emerson Newsome, who served as an assistant coach for the Washington men’s golf team in 2022-23, has taken a job with the Ole Miss men’s program.

“On behalf of our program and Washington Athletics, I want to thank Emerson for the excellent job he did during his time on Montlake,” said UW head coach Alan Murray. “He is a great coach, an even better colleague and we are sad to see him leave.

“Emmo and his wife Kelby are truly wonderful people and it has been a pleasure to be around them and call them friends,” Murray added.

During the 2022-23 season, the Huskies earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season.

“Emerson has been a wonderful influence on our guys and his attention to detail and desire to drive our program forward was an inspiration. We will all miss him,” Murray continued.

“I wish him and Kelby nothing but success moving forward and Ole Miss have got a good one,” Murray concluded. “The reality of college sports is that the most talented people will have a lot of opportunities. It has been the case with Michael Wilson, Thomas Sutton and now Emerson since I have been here. I feel fortunate to have worked alongside bright talented coaches and I know that we can attract guys here that will continue to help us drive the program forward and continue to be successful.”
