Men’s Golf Welcomes Martín León to 2023-24 Roster

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men’s golf team has added Martín León to the 2023-24 roster.

León is an international junior from the hometown of Santiago, Chile. Head coach Rob Shutte is excited to add a player of his caliber to an already talented Scarlet Knights team.

“We had recruited Martín the first time around and he’s had an outstanding college career,” Shutte said. “He’s excited to see a different part of the country and be a part of our culture. He’s a proven college player who has had a lot of success. He brings a lot of experience to the table, and we are excited to add him to the mix. He’s a super supportive teammate that’s looking forward to being outside the shadows of New York City and helping us win.”

León has two years of eligibility remaining for Rutgers.

  • Six-time member of the Chilean National Team
  • 2021 Utah State Amateur Champion (first international winner of the event)
  • 2021 Polo Open Champion in Chile
  • 4th place in the 2022 Salt Lake City Open
  • Competed in the 2022 NCAA Regionals in Norman, OK, and the 2022 NCAA National Championship in Scottsdale, AZ
  • Top 25 finishes at the Bandon Dunes Collegiate and the Wyoming Desert Classic in the 2023 spring season
  • Has recorded 23 rounds at par or better in his two seasons of college golf.
