Li, who hails from Basking Ridge, N.J., opened her day with a bogey on the first hole, but then registered back-to-back birdies on No. 4 and No. 5 to get in the red.  After a bogey on No. 8, she closed the front nine with a birdie and made the turn at 1-under, 34.  Li kept her momentum going on the back nine as she birdied No. 10, No. 12 and No. 13 to get to 4-under for the day.  She parred the final five holes to finish at 4-under.

The U.S. Women’s Amateur will take place Aug. 7-13 at the Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif.  Li joins Duke rising sophomore Andie Smith as Blue Devils to qualify as of now.
