KIBSGAARD NIELSEN RELISHING EXCITING OPPORTUNITY IN LONDON

Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen

Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen is making her Ladies European Tour (LET) debut this week at the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – London.

The Danish star is currently having an excellent season on the LET Access Series (LETAS) and leads the Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year standings.

Kibsgaard Nielsen has played seven events this season and had runner-up finishes at the Santander Golf Tour – Girona and Flumserberg Ladies Open.

While she has also been victorious winning the Montauban Ladies Open in France and last week’s Capio Ogon Trophy in Sweden.

And the 24-year-old is pleased that the putting work she has put in has been paying off on LETAS in 2023.

She said: “This season so far has been very easy golf. When you play well, I feel it’s not something you think a lot about, but it’s just been very steady.

“I have had a few weeks that have been off, but I had the time to go back home and work on some stuff and I just felt like my game is very steady and I hit the ball pretty well.

“I see my putting being better now – that was the thing the last few years. That’s what I wanted to work on this year, just to know that when I improved my putting, I knew the scores would be lower.”

Centurion Club is the host venue once again for the third edition of the Aramco Team Series – London and the Dane is excited to make her LET debut.

The two-time LETAS winner hopes she will get to know a lot of the LET players this week and believes being part of a team will help that aspect.

“I am very excited and very happy to be here and get this opportunity,” she explained. “When I came here, the whole setup is way bigger than I thought it would be. I tried to imagine it but it’s way bigger. I’m trying to take it all in and really enjoy it.

“I think I’ll enjoy the team environment. I just talked to my brother who is caddying for me this week and I said I think it’s a good way to get to know the other players and who they are and how everything is working here. I think it makes the atmosphere more fun.”

Coming off the back of success last week, Kibsgaard Nielsen believes she is in a good place with her game and is looking forward to a testing week ahead.

She added: “I feel like I’m better off the tee right now than in previous months. The course suits me well because it requires a lot of good shots from the tee to stay in play, right now I’m fine with it but you never know with the rain and the wind and nerves too.

“I talked…
