East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State Head Women’s Golf Coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll released the team’s schedule for the 2023-24 season.
The Spartans will play five events during the Fall, including the return of the Mary Fossum Invitational at home. Following a break for the holidays, the team returns to the course in early February for the first of five regular season events before the Big Ten Championships and hosting the NCAA Regionals at Forest Akers West in East Lansing.
“Our team is really looking forward to the coming season, especially after the success we achieved in the postseason last year,” Slobodnik-Stoll said. “It will mean a lot of all of us that we can host the Mary Fossum Invitational back home early in the season and we hope we can carry that same success throughout the year and into the NCAA Regionals at our home course in May.
“We return all six of our players from last year’s team that won an NCAA Regional for the first time in program history and we were within just a few shots of making the final round at the NCAA Championships so this team knows we have ability to be among the best in the country.”
The Spartans open the 2023-24 season playing in the Cougar Classic (Sept. 11-12) in Charleston, S.C. The team returns home to host the Mary Fossum Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 17 and Monday, Sept. 18 at Forest Akers West, the team’s host. This will be the 37th time MSU has hosted the Mary Fossum Invitational, named for the first head coach in the history of the program, and the first since 2019.
The team closes out the Fall campaign with three events, the Glass City Invitational (Sept. 25-26) in Toledo, Ohio; the Tar Heel Invitational (Oct. 9-10) in Raleigh-Durham, N.C. and the Landfall Tradition (Oct. 27-29) in Wilmington, N.C.
The Spring season opens with a pair of events in February, first at the UCF Challenge (Feb. 4-6) in Orlando and then hosting the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational at the Palm Aire Champs Course in Sarasota (Feb. 18-19).
The Spartans play a pair of events in March, starting with the Briar’s Creek Invitational (March 11-12) in South Carolina and closing with the Clemson Invitational (March 22-24) in Sunset, S.C. The regular season closes at the Buckeye Invitational in Columbus Ohio (April 13-14).
The Big Ten Championships will be held from April 19-21 at Bulle Rock Golf…
