Duke Duo Finishes in Top-13 at Canadian Women’s Amateur


HALIFAX, NS, Canada – The 2023 Canadian Women’s Amateur concluded on Friday with both Phoebe Brinker and Andie Smith finishing in the top-13 of the event, which was contested at the Ashburn Golf Club New Course in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Brinker, who is from Wilmington, Del., posted rounds of 71, 71 and 69 the first three days, but struggled in the final round with a 78 to finish tied for ninth with a 1-over, 289.  After turning in 11 birdies the first three days, Brinker was limited to only one in the final round.  

A native of Hobe Sound, Fla., Smith closed with her best round of the week as she shot a 1-under, 71, to finish tied for 13th.  Over the four days, she turned in scores of 72, 77, 72 and 71 for a 4-over, 292.  Smith moved her score on Friday to 3-under with a birdie on No. 13, but dropped a couple of shots on the way in to finish with a 71.  

Lauren Kim shot 8-under, 280, to win individual medalist honors.
