Six Golden Bears To Compete In Marquette Intercollegiate At Erin Hills
BERKELEY – The California men’s golf team will start the 2023-24 season at the Marquette Intercollegiate this weekend in Hartford, Wisconsin. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will feature 12 teams and run Sunday through Tuesday at Erin Hills Golf Course, home of the 2017 U.S. Open Championship.
Cal will be represented by six Golden Bears in its first appearance at the Marquette Intercollegiate, which is in its 10th year. All-American senior Sampson Zheng anchors a Cal lineup that includes redshirt juniors Tony Chen and Ethan Chung, freshman Ethan Fang and sophomore Daniel Heo. Fellow freshman Eric Lee will play as an individual and join Fang in making their collegiate debuts.
Meanwhile back in California, juniors Charlie Berridge and Papon Sawatyanon and redshirt senior Costas Panay will play as individuals in the California State Fair Championship at MacKenzie Golf Course in Sacramento on Sept. 2-4. Live scoring for the tournament can be followed on statefairgolf.net.
