PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The Mississippi State women’s golf team picked up a fifth-place finish in the loaded Carmel Cup on Sunday. After playing 54 holes, the Bulldogs finished nine over-par (1089).
As an individual, Julia Lopez Ramirez finished third (-7), her 17th career top-5 appearance. Her third-place finish marked the sixth time in a row she had finished in the top five, spanning back to the 2022-23 season. Lopez Ramirez picked up 16 birdies throughout the three days, while also tallying an eagle to finish round two.
In her first collegiate tournament, Avery Weed finished the tournament tied for 16th. After finishing over-par on day one, Weed finished two under-par on round two, and even-par on day three.
Izzy Pellot notched a top-25 individual placement, as she finished the three-day tournament five-over to secure a tie for 25th. Pellot’s best score came in round two, as she one under-par.
In her first event as a Bulldog, Chiara Horder finished tied for 28th (+6). Like Pellot, Horder also carded 71 on day two.
Samantha Whateley finished 12 over-par to tie for 37th in her first collegiate event. Ana Pina Ortega finished tied for 45th. Ortega picked up a 70 on day one of the tournament, which set her personal low for 18 holes.
Stanford picked up their second Carmel Cup victory in as many years. They finished 22-under in the tournament.
Arkansas took home second place as they finished 14-under, while Texas A&M took third by staying 10-under. Vanderbilt took home fourth, as they finished two strokes better than State (+7). Oklahoma State took sixth after finishing 20 over-par. Texas Tech (+25) and Oklahoma (+45) finished in seventh and eighth.
