SAMMAMISH, Wash. – The University of Washington men’s golf team will begin its 2023-24 season in its home base, hosting some of the elite talent across the country for the Sahalee Players Championship, hosted at Sahalee Country Club Sept. 9-10.

Inaugurated in 1992, this will be the first iteration of the Sahalee Players Championship as a collegiate team event. The individual champion of the tournament will receive a sponsor’s exemption to next week’s PGA Fortinet Championship.

“We’re super excited. It’s been two or three years of planning and now we’re finally here,” UW head coach Alan Murray said. “It’s what we’ve envisioned with how much Sahalee have gotten behind the even and seeing the teams arrive and the course and hearing the feedback. It’s all been really positive. It makes us feel really lucky to be in Seattle to be able to play the courses that we do when we host.”

Located in Sammamish, Washington – just 20 minutes outside Seattle – Sahalee Country Club offers 27-holes of world-class golf for all levels of golfers. The SPC will feature a par-72 course that will play at the following distances:

Round 1 – 6,938 yards
Round 2 – 6,919 yards
Round 3 – 7,003 yards

“This is a championship golf course anyway but it’s in extreme championship condition. It will identify the best player and the best team for sure. There’s no place to hide out there.”

The SPC will play host to several of the elite programs across the country, including eight teams ranked in the top-25 of the Golfweek Preseason Rankings.

“This week will give you a really good gauge of how you stack up against the best teams in college golf. For the players, as individuals, they want to know how good they are in relation to their competition. And same with the team. Just excited to see how we can do.”

Fresh off winning the 2022 Pac-12 Championship, Washington completed another successful season in 2022-23, earning a third-consecutive NCAA Regional Bid. The Huskies return 4-of-5 players from their lineup at the NCAA Auburn Regional.

The Sahalee Players Championship will feature a play 5 count 4 format. The Huskies will feature the following lineup.
