Women's Golf Continues Fall Schedule with ANNIKA Intercollegiate

The Mississippi State women’s golf team heads north this week for their first appearance in the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. The 54-hole event at the Royal Golf Club is set for Monday-Wednesday.

This week, the Bulldogs are apart of a loaded field headed by defending national champions Wake Forest. South Carolina, Texas A&M, Texas, Oregon, Florida State, Baylor, San Jose State, Virginia, Duke and Minnesota are all apart of the field as well. Coach Charlie Ewing is looking forward to the competition that the weekend holds.

“Playing the best teams this early in the season is exactly what we hope for. Competing with the best teams in the country gives you a good gauge of what you are doing and how that stacks up.” Ewing said. “Where we finish this week is no indicator of who we are, but it is always a great learning opportunity to play against the best teams in the country this early.”

Mississippi State changes things up a bit this weekend for their lineup. The number one spot is headed by Julia Lopez Ramirez. Lopez Ramirez enters the tournament after a top-three individual performance in the Carmel Cup.

Junior Chiara Horder sits in the two spot for the Bulldogs. Horder is coming off her Bulldog debut in the Carmel Cup, finishing her last 18 holes of the tournament one-under.

Number three in the lineup this tournament is Avery Weed. In her first collegiate tournament, Weed picked up a top-20 finish as she finished even on the tournament. She finished tied for 16th with an even-par score.

Izzy Pellot is the fourth Bulldog in the lineup this weekend. Pellot finished tied for 25th in the Carmel Cup.

The five spot this weekend belongs to sophomore Surapa Janthamunee. SJ will be making her season debut in the ANNIKA after being named to the SEC-All Freshman team last season.
