Cougars Set for Husky Invitational


PULLMAN, Wash. (Sept. 17, 2023) – The Washington State men’s golf team is set to defend its 2023 team title at the 2023 Husky Invitational, Sept. 18-19 in Bremerton, Wash. Last season, the Cougars posted a three-stoke victory over USC following a final-round of 3-under par, to capture the fourth tournament title under Head Coach Dustin White.  
 
The Course and Tournament Format
The 2023 Husky Invitational will be held at Gold Mountain-Olympic Course in Bremerton, Wash. The course will play as a par-72 at 7,159 yards.
 
Teams will play 36 holes on Monday, Sept. 18 followed by a final 18 holes Tuesday.
 
In additional to the Husky Invitational, a separate tournament with individual players from each team will also be contested. The Husky Individual will be played at the Gold Mountain-Cascade Course, and will play as a par-71, 6,848-yard layout.

Washington State fifth-year senior Pono Yanagi shared medalist honors while as a team the Cougars finished in second, one stroke behind Loyola Marymount at the 2023 Golfweek Fall Challenge in Pawleys Island, S.C.  WSU ended the three-day event at 46-under par, 818, setting the program record for lowest three-round team score to par and the second-lowest three-round team score. For Yanagi, it marked his first tournament win as a Coug while posting the lowest score to par in WSU Men’s Golf history at 17-under.
