NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golf returns to the course on Friday, hosting the annual Mason Rudolph Championship presented by Simmons Bank at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. The three-day tournament will be played on the par-72, 6,491-yard North Course.
“The Mason Rudolph week is one of the most special times of the year for our program,” said head coach Greg Allen. “I love getting to show off all the great things about Vanderbilt women’s golf, the Legends Club, and the Franklin and Nashville area. We are so fortunate to call this place home.”
The Commodores are three weeks removed from their opening tournament—the Carmel Cup—where they finished in fourth place. Now, sights turn to taking home the trophy for the first time since 2018 at their own tournament.
Vanderbilt will go up against a field including seven ranked squads: Alabama, Arizona, No. 14 Arizona State, No. 9 Auburn, No. 12 Baylor, UCLA, Charleston, Chattanooga, Denver, Florida Atlantic, Kentucky, No. 4 LSU, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, No. 16 Ole Miss, North Carolina, No. 7 South Carolina and No. 17 Vanderbilt. Defending champion Mississippi State will not make an appearance.
“We have one of the most stacked fields we’ve had in the last 10 years, so it will be fun for our young ladies to go up against some of the best players in college golf,” said Allen. “We’ll see a different lineup than we saw at Pebble Beach as we welcome Ginnie Ding back. With this being the normal 5-count-4 format, we have some very talented freshmen playing as individuals.”
Graduate student Celina Sattelkau leads the full lineup for the ‘Dores this weekend. Junior Virgine Ding will make her first appearance of the year. Sophomores Tillie Claggett and Lynn Lim are joined by freshman Ava Merrill in rounding out the team. Competing as individuals will be Sara Im, Charlene Chung, Macie Brown, and Meghan Meserole.
“This may be one of the deepest rosters we’ve had here in a really long time,” said Allen. “It’s very exciting to have this many girls competing for a lineup spot because in the end everyone should get better.
Vanderbilt will tee off with Arizona and Arizona State at 9:24 a.m. CT. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE. Admission and parking are both free.
“We only get to compete once a year at home,” said Allen. “We’d love to see as many Vandy fans as possible come out and support our young ladies.”
