East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s women’s golf team is back in action on Monday, Sept. 25, starting play in the Glass City Invitational, hosted by the University of Toledo at the Inverness Club in Ohio.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins with 36 holes over two rounds on Monday and concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
The tournament will be played on the par-72, 6,218-yard course at the Inverness Club. Michigan State tees off on the holes 7-11 at 9:30 a.m., playing alongside Kent State, Michigan and Notre Dame.

THE GLASS CITY INVITATIONAL FIELD
The 10-team field includes two (Michigan State and Virginia) that advanced to the 2023 NCAA Championships and four more that qualified for NCAA Regionals (Florida, Kent State, Michigan and South Florida). Other teams in the field include host Toledo, Indiana, Miami (Fla.) and Notre Dame.
THE INVERNESS CLUB
The Inverness Club was founded in 1903 and served as host for the 2009 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships. Inverness hosted the 2021 Solheim Cup in addition to previously hosting four U.S. Opens, two U.S. Senior Opens, two PGA Championships and one U.S. Amateur. In the future, Inverness will host the 2027 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2029 U.S. Amateur.
LAST TIME OUT
Michigan State junior women’s golfer Katie Lu entered the final round of play in the lead and held on for a one-shot victory, taking medalist honors at the Mary Fossum Invitational and the Spartans finished second in the team standings in the 15-team field on Sept. 18. MSU entered the final round of play with an 8-shot advantage over second place Purdue, but posted a 14-over par 302 in the final round and finished second at 4-over par 868 (285-281-302).
Lu won her first collegiate event by shooting a 2-over par 74 in the final round to finish at 3-under par 213 (70-69-74). She held off a late run from Purdue’s Ashley Kozlowski, who finished in second at 2-under par 214, with a par on the 18th hole to claim the title. In winning, Lu claims the 13th Mary Fossum…
