JOHNSON, Ark. – The fall portion of the 2023 schedule continues for the Mississippi State women’s golf squad as they travel to compete in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on October 3-5.
State looks to walk away with their second title victory at The Blessings in as many years. The Bulldogs were able to win the 2022 edition with a team total of 879 (+15). Julia Lopez Ramirez won her fourth career individual title at last year’s contest.
Lopez Ramirez remains in the number one slot for the Dawgs. At the Blessings last year, Julia set a course and event record, shooting a 65 in the opening round. She finished the event eight-under par to secure the individual victory.
Avery Weed will make her first appearance at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in the number two spot of the lineup. The freshman has finished her first two collegiate tournaments even-par. At the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, Weed carded a 69 in round two to become the 14th freshman to shoot a round in the 60’s.
Shooting third for the Bulldogs will be Chiara Horder. The junior is appearing at the Blessings for the second time in her career. Horder finished in a tie for 26th her freshman year.
Samantha Whateley sits in the four spot in the Bulldog lineup. Whateley will be making her second appearance as a collegiate golfer, her first appearance since the Carmel Cup where she finished tied for 37th.
Rounding out the lineup for the Bulldogs will be Jarutrawee Khotchagrai. The senior will be making her first appearance this season. Khotchagrai’s last round of golf was at the Gators Invitational where she shot a 70.
The Blessings Collegiate Invitational will be broadcast live on NBC’s Golf Channel, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Live stats for the tournament will be available at golfstat.com
