David Ford shot 66-68 to lead the University of North Carolina in the first two rounds of the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational Monday at the Shady Oaks Country Club in Westworth Village, Texas.
The Tar Heels, the tournament’s defending champions, are fourth in the 15-team field after 36 holes at 4-under-par 556, 14 strokes behind the leader, Oklahoma.
Arizona State is second at 13-under 547, Vanderbilt is third at 10-under 550, Carolina is fourth and Oregon is fifth at 3 under.
Ford is tied for second place in the individual standings at 6-under 134. The Sooners’ Drew Goodman is the 36-hole leader after shooting rounds of 68 and 63 for 9-under 131.
Ford is tied with TCU’s Gustav Frimodt and OU’s Stephen Campbell Jr. three strokes behind Goodman.
UNC’s Dylan Menante (71-69) is tied for 19th at even-par 140, Maxwell Ford (70-71) is tied for 25th at 1-over 141 and Austin Greaser (71-72) and Kenan Poole (69-74) are tied for 40th at 3-over 143.
