Virginia Men's Golf | UVA in Second Place After Day One at Hamptons Intercollegiate

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. – The No. 15 Virginia men’s golf team is in second place at the Hamptons Intercollegiate when play was suspended Monday due to darkness. A total of nine of the 11 teams, including the Cavaliers, had completed their second rounds.

UVA posted scores of 12-under 276 and 3-under 285 for a 36-hole total of 15-under 561. Alabama leads the field at 19-under 557. UCLA, one of the two teams not to have completed its second round, was in third place, one shot behind UVA.

The second round will be completed Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. at the Maidstone Club followed by the final round.

The Cavaliers were led by Deven Patel who shot 3-under 69 and 2-under 70 for a first-day total of 5-under 139. He was tied for fifth place when play was suspended. Bryan Lee, who topped UVA in scoring during its first two events this season, shot rounds of 76 and 66 to stand 10th at 2-under 142.

Ben James and George Duangmanee were tied for 15 at 1-under 143. James carded scores of 68 and 75 while Duangmanee shot 69 and 74. Paul Chang was in 25th place at 1-over 145. He shot 70 and 75.

Chris Fosdick, playing as an individual was in 33rd position when play was halted with scores of 78 and 69.
