JOHNSON, Ark. – After a slow start Tuesday morning, the Mississippi State women’s golf team capitalized on the front nine holes of the Blessings to remain in second place.
The Bulldogs gained six strokes in the second half of their day, as they began the day on the back nine. The top four for the Bulldogs shot 11 birdies and an eagle on the front nine to regain their position from yesterday. State finished two-over par as a team on the day, putting their two-day total at three-over.
Julia Lopez Ramirez remains among the leaders, as she sits in sole possession for second place individually. In a day with only two bogeys, Lopez Ramirez carded six birdies and an eagle to finish the second round with a 66, marking the 29th time Julia has shot a round in the 60’s in her career.
Also in the top 10 of the leader board is Chiara Horder. She was able to put together a subpar day as she birdied five holes in the second round. Horder goes into the third day of the tournament sitting in eighth, as she’s one-under par for the tournament.
Samantha Whateley sits in a tie for 23rd. She helped the Bulldogs regain momentum on the front nine, shooting one-under on those holes.
The final day of the Blessings is set to begin at 7:15 Wednesday morning. Mississippi State is set to tee of at 9:15. Coverage of the Blessings will begin at 3:30 on the Golf Channel. Live stats will also be available at golfstat.com
