Five Things to Know: Ron Moore Intercollegiate

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin women’s golf is headed out west to the University of Denver Golf Club for the Ron Moore Intercollegiate where they will play 54 holes from Friday, Oct. 6 to Sunday, Oct. 8.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:

1. Last Time Out: The Badgers last golfed in the Badger Invitational where they placed second at their home course, University Ridge. This was Wisconsin’s highest finish at the Badger Invitational since winning the tournament in 2011 and 2010. The Badgers last finished second in 2008. Overall, the Badgers have now finished in second place three times including runner-up finishes in 2006 and 2008, while winning the tournament overall in 1983, 2010 and 2011. The Badgers carded a nine-over par (292-291-290=873) after the three rounds. Freshman Kate Brody led Wisconsin, shooting a one-under par to place sixth in just her second collegiate tournament.

2. The Course: The University of Denver Golf Club, formerly Highland Ranch Golf Club, will host the Intercollegiate at their 6,702-yar, par-72 course in the outskirts of Denver. Highland Ranch Golf Club was gifted to the University in 2012 by Ron Moore, a University of Denver Hall of Famer. The course offers bentgrass greens unlike any other club in the region and a striking view of the Rocky Mountain front range.

3. The Tournament: The Ron Moore Intercollegiate will take place from Friday, Oct. 6 to Sunday, Oct. 8, with 18 holes being played on each day. Tee times for Round 1 and Round 2 will occur from 7:30 a.m. to 9:36 a.m. CT, while Round 3 will be a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.

4. The Field: Teams competing include UC Berkeley, Colorado, Denver, Harvard, Kansas, New Mexico, Oregon State, San Diego State, Tulane, UNLV, Vanderbilt, Washington State, Xavier and Wisconsin. In the lineup for the Badgers are Carly Carter, Kate Brody, Alexia Siehl, Vanessa Ho and Chloe Chan
